How Can I Increase the Number of USB Ports on My Motherboard?

Hey everyone! I'm using an MSI B850 MAG Tomahawk motherboard, and I'm in need of more than the two onboard USB 2.0 headers it offers. The manual suggests that it supports four extra USB ports, but I'm not sure how to go about achieving this. Are splitter cables a way to do this? I thought I could only connect two devices per header, not three. I'm also struggling to find female-female 9-pin USB 2 cables. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Each USB header on your motherboard is set for two USB ports, so with two headers, you're effectively getting four USB ports total. That's just how it's wired!

I misunderstood too; I thought the four were in addition to the two! But yeah, two devices per header is definitely the way it works. I’m also looking for a splitter with all female connectors. Are those even available?
