I'm using a company laptop and need VLC Media Player, but Windows asks for an administrator password when I run the installer. Is there an approved way to get it installed without admin privileges, or should I go through my company's IT process?

Check your company’s acceptable-use or software-installation policy first. If VLC is allowed, IT may have a managed software portal or may install it for you. If it isn’t work-related, using a personal computer is the safer option.

On a work-owned laptop, the right approach is to contact your IT department and ask them to install VLC or confirm whether it’s an approved application. The administrator prompt is there to prevent users from installing software themselves, so trying to bypass it could violate company policy.
