How can I keep a program running smoothly in the background on Windows 11?

I'm using simulation software on my laptop, but it slows down when I switch to other windows or minimize it. I want to find a way to make the software act as if it's still in focus so it can use more processing power while I'm working on other tasks. Currently, I'm using Deskpins to keep the window on top, but it still runs slower unless I actively click on it. Any suggestions for Windows 11?

This is a common issue with Windows trying to allocate resources efficiently. One potential fix is to disable hardware-assisted GPU scheduling in your system settings.

I'm not seeing that option in my graphics settings, probably because my laptop only has integrated graphics.
