My iPad drops its Wi‑Fi connection when the signal gets weak. After that, it usually will not reconnect until I wake it from standby. I have already tried a few basic fixes, but nothing has solved the problem. Are there any settings or other troubleshooting steps that might help it reconnect automatically?

The most likely cause is the weak signal rather than the iPad itself. Try moving closer to the router, repositioning the router, or adding a mesh node or access point if possible. You can also toggle Wi‑Fi off and back on when it happens. Some routers are configured to disconnect devices with very poor signal, and that behavior has to be adjusted on the router rather than on the iPad.

I cannot change the router’s location or improve the signal, so I was hoping there might be an iPad setting that would force it to reconnect.
