I recently bought an Intel Core i7-14700KF that came with a Cooler Master Elite Liquid 240 AIO cooler. After installing it, I noticed the fans occasionally ramp up extremely loudly—almost like a louder PS4 Pro—even though the system seems to be working normally and I can monitor the pump and fan RPM in BIOS and Windows. Temperatures are around 35°C, but my room stays fairly warm, so I assumed a liquid cooler was necessary. Is there a way to reduce the sudden fan noise, or should I replace the fans or cooler?

The 14700KF can use a lot of power and produce quick temperature spikes, so some fan activity is normal. You don’t need to panic just because it’s an i7 or because the room is warm—focus on sustained load temperatures rather than short spikes. A good air cooler can also handle it, provided the case has decent airflow.
A liquid cooler isn’t strictly required for this CPU. The sudden noise is probably the fan curve reacting too aggressively to brief temperature spikes. Try setting a less sensitive curve in BIOS and increasing the ramp-up delay or hysteresis so the fans don’t instantly jump to maximum speed. With temperatures around 35°C, you have plenty of room to run them slower.
If the cooler’s stock fans are still too loud after adjusting the curve, replacing them with quieter PWM fans from a reputable brand should help. The pump can usually be left at a steady speed while the radiator fans handle temperature changes. Just make sure the pump is connected to the correct header and that the CPU stays within safe temperatures.
