Hi everyone! I'm looking for some advice on dealing with perfectionism and the feeling of falling behind in my programming journey. With AI being able to perform tasks at such incredible speeds and efficiency, I often worry about how I can ever measure up and become a good programmer myself. Any tips or insights?

First off, stop comparing yourself to AI! If you’re still learning, it might be better to avoid using AI for now. Also, the truth is there is no such thing as perfect code, and trying to write it is unrealistic. Just focus on creating what you need and don’t overthink it.
AI might be able to churn out code rapidly, but it can't decide what to build or understand why something's going wrong in a live environment. Perfectionism often comes from linking your self-worth to how quickly you can produce output. Remember, programming is more about clear thinking than just typing fast. Now it's about reasoning through different choices rather than just getting the syntax right. Focus on solid fundamentals like data structures and debugging instead, because those skills will really compound over time.
You have a great imagination, but it's key to learn how to control it. Once you get that control, you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish with coding!
One way to tackle this is by not focusing too much on how others are doing it. If you're just starting out, there are already tons of programmers out there who might seem more efficient than you. That shouldn’t hold you back from trying new things and learning!
Remember that what seems perfect now will likely not be viewed the same way in a year. Perfection is an illusion in this ever-changing field.
