How Can I Pair a Universal Remote with a Bose CineMate GS II?

I'm helping my neighbor set up a Philips SRP3219G/27 universal wireless remote with a Bose CineMate GS II speaker system. We tried entering the Bose codes listed in the remote's manual, along with the other setup methods, but none of them worked. The original Bose remote has been lost, so what other options could we try?

Bose systems can be difficult to control with generic universal remotes. A learning remote may work if you have an original Bose remote available to teach it, while a programmable remote with an online device-code database—such as a Harmony-style remote—may offer better compatibility. You could also search a reputable remote-control code database for CineMate GS II commands and assign them manually. If none of that works, finding a genuine replacement Bose remote is probably the most reliable solution; remotes labeled merely “compatible” are often unreliable.

The Philips manual includes codes, but none worked, and the original remote is missing. I’ll look into a code database or try to find an authentic replacement remote.
