I'm looking for a way to completely block Windows updates from downloading or installing on my Windows 11 Home PC. I understand the risks involved since I prefer to manage updates myself, and I've noticed that despite modifying the registry to stop automatic updates, I'm still receiving notifications for new installs, like the upcoming version 24H2. I just want to make sure these updates are permanently disabled. Any advice on how to achieve this would be appreciated!

If you want to avoid auto-updates, I've heard some people in the EU found success by opting for extended support, which prevents automatic upgrades to Windows 11. It seems like that might be an option for you too! Check out the details on Microsoft's extended security updates page to see if it applies in your area.

Unfortunately, I'm based in the U.S., so that option might not work for me.
