How can I permanently remove a process that tries to start on boot?

I'm having a problem with a process that tries to launch every time I start my PC, but it never actually works. The process is related to Steam, but it's a separate entity from the main Steam application and doesn't affect it at all. I can't simply delete it through File Explorer, so I wanted to see if anyone has suggestions on how to force delete this process, perhaps using PowerShell. Any help would be appreciated!

First off, can you specify what this process is and where its executable is located? That info is crucial for troubleshooting.

You might want to check out SysInternals Autoruns. It's a handy tool that shows everything that runs at startup, and you can easily disable anything unnecessary from there. Here's a link to it: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns
RandomGamer56: Awesome, I'll definitely check that out when I'm home!

Sounds like this process might have stuck around from your old computer setup when you activated Windows. Have you noticed it trying to start up before you even install Steam? That can be tricky to handle, since it might not interfere with the main application but is still there. Let me know if you need any more insights!

Booting into safe mode could be another option, especially if you're having trouble identifying the process. But honestly, you really need to provide more details so we can help you effectively.

RandomGamer56: It's actually Steam trying to start up, and the executable is found in the Windows Apps under my user. I've had this issue even before I installed the main Steam application.
