How Can I Prepare for Technical Interview Questions Without Memorizing Scripts?

Technical interviews often include questions about programming languages, frameworks, and technologies. Many of these topics do not have a single short answer, so I end up relying on articles or AI-generated explanations that can be incomplete or inaccurate. What is the most effective way to learn these concepts and prepare to explain them clearly during an interview?
Answers
Pair reading with hands-on practice. When you encounter a topic, build the smallest example you can from scratch and use it to explore how the concept works. Then explain it aloud without notes. If you get stuck, revisit your research and try again. Recording yourself can also reveal where your explanation is unclear.

You cannot predict every question, so trying to memorize a huge list of answers is not very effective. Build a strong understanding of programming fundamentals, computer science concepts, and the tools you actually use. Reading widely helps, but make sure you understand the ideas rather than memorizing wording.

Practice communicating, not just recalling information. Prepare a list of likely questions, research each one using reliable sources, and build a small project related to the topic. Practice answering in simple terms, then offer to expand on a specific detail instead of giving an unfocused lecture. This keeps the conversation clear and lets the interviewer guide the depth.
