I have a phone that's nearly 20 years old, and although the screen is broken and doesn't turn on, I feel vibrations when I connect it to something. I want to retrieve some old photos, but I'm not sure how to do it. When I connect it to my laptop, it shows up as a CD drive. Does anyone have any tips on how I can get my data back?

If your laptop recognizes it as a drive, you might be able to copy files over like you would with a USB stick. However, keep in mind that since it’s so old, it likely used a proprietary memory format, which might be tricky to access with current computers. Just be cautious—if it appears as a CD drive, you might not have much luck getting the actual photos easily!
First off, what type of phone is it? Knowing the make and model would help. And what kind of laptop are you using—like Apple, Windows, or something else? Since it's almost 20 years old, it might need a specific program to pull the data off. Just some things to consider first!

It's a Samsung, but I’m not exactly sure of the model—maybe an S5? Any suggestions from there?
