How can I reduce the cost of my A$3,750 gaming PC without losing much performance?

I'm building a gaming PC in Australia with a budget of around A$3,750. The current parts list uses a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, and I'd like to know whether there are sensible ways to lower the price while keeping performance strong. The system will mainly be used for gaming, likely at 1440p or 4K. I'm open to changing the CPU, graphics card, motherboard, cooler, memory, storage, and power supply, but I don't want to make cuts that will noticeably hurt gaming performance or upgradeability.

The biggest saving is replacing the RTX 5070 Ti with a Radeon RX 9070 XT. In Australia, the 9070 XT is often dramatically cheaper while offering similar rasterized gaming performance. The main trade-offs are weaker ray tracing and less mature support for features such as DLSS and some frame-generation options. If you mainly play standard 1440p or 4K games, it offers much better value.

If you want to stay with Nvidia, compare the total price against an RTX 5080 prebuilt or sale bundle. Some have been cheaper than buying the individual parts and provide better graphics performance, although the CPU and motherboard platform may be less upgradeable. It’s worth checking the warranty, cooling, and exact power supply model before choosing one.

For 1440p gaming, a Ryzen 7 7800X3D could save roughly A$250 compared with the 9800X3D while only giving up a small amount of performance. At 4K, the difference is usually even less noticeable because the graphics card becomes the limiting factor. I’d put the savings toward a 2TB SSD, since modern games can fill a 1TB drive very quickly.

There are also savings available on the supporting parts. A less expensive B650 or X870 motherboard should be enough, and a Thermalright Peerless Assassin or Phantom Spirit cooler can handle the CPU well for much less money. Aim for 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory; faster kits are fine if the price is close, but they aren’t essential. Also check that the power supply has two PCIe power connectors if you choose a 9070 XT.
