Hey everyone! I need some help with renaming all of our SharePoint sites to match our new company name. Is there a script out there or any good documentation that explains how to go about this? Any insights would be appreciated!

Make sure you're using a Commercial Tenant and not a government one! Unfortunately, tenants like GCC and GCC-High can't change their domain names for SharePoint, which is really a bummer.

Check out this article for guidance: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/change-your-sharepoint-domain-name. Just a heads up though, changing the domain can impact your team's sites and any OneDrive shared links, so be sure to discuss the potential risks with your team before moving forward. Good luck!

Totally agree! The SharePoint domain is tied back to the core onmicrosoft.com tenant name, so renaming it isn't something to take lightly. It could lead to some major issues if not handled well.

Just remember these two key points: 1) When you rename your SharePoint domain, a redirect will be set up at the old address, but it only lasts for a year. 2) You can only rename your domain once without needing to submit a support request for additional changes.

I've gone through this process with a few tenants, and it was pretty straightforward! Once you rename, the old SharePoint URL automatically redirects to the new one. Best of luck with your transition!
