How Can I Reset My Locked iPhone Without WiFi?

I'm having trouble with my old iPhone 12. I forgot the passcode and tried to do a factory reset using my iMac. However, it prompted me to update my phone first. I attempted the update, but it keeps failing halfway through, saying that the iPhone files got corrupted during download. It also mentioned that I need to connect to WiFi, but since my phone is locked, I can't do that. I've tried multiple times to update, but no luck. Does anyone have suggestions on how to reset my phone?

If you're getting a corrupted firmware file error, try going to your iTunes folder and manually delete the old update files from ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates. Then, reconnect your iPhone and let it redownload the update. Your iPhone doesn't need to be connected to WiFi; your Mac just needs to be online. You might also want to put your phone in recovery mode during this process.

You don't need to update the iPhone before restoring it. Just put your iPhone into recovery mode and then connect it to your Mac. The computer will install the latest iOS without needing WiFi on your phone. This way, you can bypass the passcode issue and get your phone reset easily!
