My audio icon now has an X over it, and my computer no longer produces sound. This started immediately after I uninstalled a driver utility called "Driver Booster Free." What is the safest way to restore the correct audio driver?

Download and reinstall the audio driver directly from your computer manufacturer's support website, or from the motherboard manufacturer's site if you built the PC yourself. Search for your exact model, open the Drivers or Downloads section, and install the latest audio driver for your version of Windows. Restart afterward.
