How can I safely unplug cables from my motherboard?

I'm upgrading my entire setup but keeping my old case. I'm at the stage of removing the old components, but I'm having trouble getting the cables out of the motherboard. I've tried pulling on them a bit, but I'm worried about damaging either the motherboard or the cables. Any tips?

Yeah, it can require a good amount of force sometimes. I had to wiggle my cables a bit before they popped out. I remember taking nearly 20 minutes just getting the power cable out the first time!

Just take it easy and tug gently. For most cables, they should come out safely with enough wiggling. It's a little tricky, but you got this!

Usually, cables have some clips. Just remember to release those clips before trying to pull anything out.

Make sure to check for clips on the cables before pulling them out. Sometimes they're not obvious, but releasing those clips can make it easier to disconnect them without force.
