How can I save important text messages before switching phones?

I'm getting ready to hand in my phone at the end of my contract with Rogers and I'm switching to a new provider, plus changing my number. I want to make sure I keep all my text messages, especially those from my late brother and some important conversations I need for an upcoming court case. If I back up my phone on my MacBook using iTunes, will I be able to restore my text messages when I set up my new iPhone at home instead of doing it at the store? I really can't afford to lose these messages. Any tips would be super helpful!

Yes, you'll be able to restore your messages as long as iCloud messages are turned off. Just make sure to do that before you back up.

I recommend using iMazing to back up your phone. It makes it super easy to access your text messages and even lets you save them as a PDF or Word document. A family member of mine did this when they wanted to save an important conversation instead of taking a bunch of screenshots. It's a solid option!
