How can I select only a word in Chrome and skip Ctrl+Alt+Delete at Windows login?

I'm new to Windows after using a Mac and have a work-issued Dell laptop running Windows 11 Education. When I double-click a word in Chrome, the selection sometimes includes the space after it. Is there a way to select only the word? Also, can I disable the Ctrl+Alt+Delete screen that appears before I can enter my password? I suspect my workplace IT settings may prevent that, but I'd like to know where the option is.

For the text selection, double-click the word and then press Shift+Left Arrow to remove the trailing space. Another option is to double-click and, while holding the second click, drag slightly to the left. You can also simply click-drag across the exact word. Selection behavior can vary between applications.

To change the login requirement, right-click the Start button, choose Run, enter `netplwiz`, and press Enter. Open the Advanced tab and look for the option requiring users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete. If the checkbox is unavailable or the setting keeps reverting, your employerโ€™s management policies are controlling it and youโ€™ll need IT to change it.

Some browser extensions or automation tools can adjust how whitespace is handled after double-click selection, but the easiest built-in workaround is double-clicking the word and pressing Shift+Left Arrow. Iโ€™d avoid installing automation software on a managed work laptop unless your IT department approves it.
