My Windows 11 laptop keeps restarting or updating automatically, sometimes while I'm doing important work. The updates drain the battery quickly and can close my open programs. How can I schedule or temporarily pause updates so they happen at a more convenient time?

Keep the laptop plugged in during updates since they can use a lot of battery. Windows updates are difficult to disable permanently, and delaying them for too long may cause Windows to install them automatically, so it’s better to schedule them for a convenient time.
Set updates to install during a time when you’re not using the laptop, such as overnight. Windows may still show a restart notification, but you can restart manually when your work is saved. Also, save important files regularly because updates can occasionally require a restart.
Open Settings, go to Windows Update, then Advanced options. Turn off “Get me up to date” if it’s enabled, and set your Active hours so Windows knows when you’re usually working. You can also use Pause updates from the main Windows Update page to delay them temporarily.

Thanks, I’ll try changing the active hours and pausing updates when I need to.
