How can I successfully download large files with an unstable internet connection?

I'm trying to download a massive 54.8 GB file from a website, but my internet connection is really unstable. It tends to cut out for a brief moment, and that stops the download, forcing me to restart. I have an ethernet connection, but it drops out frequently as well. Interestingly, my mobile hotspot is faster and more reliable than both my WiFi and ethernet. I've noticed that even if I pause the download and the WiFi cuts out, I have to restart the download entirely. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to help with this?

You should try using a Chrome extension that automatically resumes downloads if they're interrupted. Just keep it switched on, and it should take care of the rest for you!

I’ve installed this, and I’ll let you know if it works for me. Thanks a ton!

Given your connection issues, definitely grab a download manager that supports resuming downloads. It's such a lifesaver; if your internet drops, it will just pick up where it left off instead of starting all over again.

Thanks, I will try this and keep you posted if I run into any issues.

For sure, try using Free Download Manager. It allows you to resume files and works well with .torrent links, too.

If you're just downloading through a browser, a download manager can really help out. There are plenty of options out there like Free Download Manager that are pretty good.

I'll give that a shot, thanks!

Just a quick check—do you have enough storage space for that file? It wouldn’t happen to be from the GoPro cloud, would it?

Yeah, I have 400 GB available, so that shouldn’t be a problem!
