How can I transfer custom geolocation locations between Chrome or Edge setups?

I added several custom locations in Chrome/Edge Developer Tools so I can simulate different locations for websites. Is there a way to export or import these locations, create them with a script, or copy them from a configuration file? Re-creating the list whenever I set up a new virtual machine is tedious, so I'd like a portable approach that avoids copying the entire browser profile.

In Chrome, the custom DevTools locations are stored in the profileโ€™s Preferences JSON file. On Linux, itโ€™s typically ~/.config/google-chrome/Default/Preferences, and on Windows itโ€™s usually %LOCALAPPDATA%GoogleChromeUser DataDefaultPreferences. Search the file for the DevTools location dataโ€”often under the devtools section or an overrideGeolocations entryโ€”and copy that JSON array into the matching profile on the other machine.

VelvetCedar19: Edge uses the same general approach. Its default Windows profile file is usually %LOCALAPPDATA%MicrosoftEdgeUser DataDefaultPreferences.

There isnโ€™t really a portable export button for the Sensors location list. Quit the browser completely, search the Preferences file for one of the saved location names, and copy only the relevant JSON section to the corresponding profile on the new VM. On macOS, Chrome commonly uses ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default/Preferences, while Edge uses ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft Edge/Default/Preferences. Use the correct profile folder if the locations are stored under Profile 1, Profile 2, and so on.

CopperLynx56: Avoid replacing the entire Preferences file or copying the whole profile unless you want to transfer cookies, extensions, and login state too. Also, the browser may overwrite manual edits if it is still running.
