How can I transfer OneDrive files from a laptop to a flash drive using CMD in System Recovery Mode?

I'm in a bit of a bind and could really use some help. My friend's laptop has crashed and won't boot up normally or even in safe mode. I've managed to access the system recovery menu using a bootable drive. While I've successfully copied some files from different folders to my flash drive using the Notepad trick in CMD, I'm struggling with transferring files from OneDrive. Every time I try, I get an error saying the file can't be accessed by the system. My friend desperately needs these files before I can reformat the laptop, so any guidance would be hugely appreciated!

Have you thought about using the OneDrive website? Since the files are synced online, you could just log in from another computer to download them directly. It’s usually the easiest method if you can’t access them through CMD.

That's true, but I can't because he's using a local account. Any tips on using CMD specifically?

Gotcha! That complicates things a bit, but hang in there!

You might want to consider removing the hard drive from the laptop and connecting it to another computer as an external drive. If BitLocker isn’t activated, you should be able to access the files directly that way. Otherwise, if the OneDrive files are synced, downloading them from the website could work too!
