How can we safely review and replace Network Solutions services?

I'm an executive assistant, not an IT administrator, and I'm trying to help my boss understand several recurring charges from Network Solutions, ranging from about $10 to $40 per month. We recently blocked charges from another hosting company after being unable to reach them, but Network Solutions may be providing important services. We also see charges from Digital Space and aren't sure whether it is connected to Network Solutions. We have started using GoDaddy, although I'm unsure whether that is the best choice. Before changing or blocking anything, I'd like to understand what these vendors may be providing, how to identify the account owner and services, and which reputable alternatives might be worth considering.

The most important thing is making sure your company controls its domain registrar account. Verify that the business owns the account, has current payment and contact information, and can access the transfer and recovery settings. Losing access to the domain can disrupt both the website and email.

Start by finding the invoices and determining which account they belong to. Locate the login, list every product and domain, and identify who currently manages DNS, the website, and email. Then have an IT professional review what is active and document the renewal dates before anything is canceled or transferred.

Donโt block the Network Solutions charges until someone confirms what they cover. They could be for domain registration, DNS, website hosting, email, certificates, backups, or other services. Canceling or blocking the wrong item could take the company website or email offline.
MellowCedar42: That makes sense. Iโm not planning to make changes myself; I wanted enough information to raise the issue with my boss and the person responsible for IT.

There are often better-managed options, but the right replacement depends on the service. A domain registrar, DNS provider, website host, and email provider do not have to be the same company. Compare transparent pricing, support quality, account ownership, security features, and easy transfer procedures. GoDaddy can work for domain registration, but it is not automatically the best choice for every service.

CopperLark8: A finance or accounting contact may know who receives the invoices, but the person managing the website or email is usually the best person to confirm what each charge is for.
