Try connecting your thumb drive to different USB ports, specifically the ones on the front if you have them. If the back USB ports aren't detecting it, see if one of the front ports works instead.

If you're not able to access the drivers on the thumb drive from your PC, a quick solution is to use a different computer. Remove the thumb drive, connect your hard drive to another PC, and copy the necessary driver files there. Then you can put that drive back into your original PC to install the drivers.
