How do I identify my current BIOS version, and will it support a Ryzen 7 5800X3D?

I'm planning to upgrade my processor to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and currently have an MSI B450-A PRO MAX motherboard (MS-7B86). I updated the BIOS a couple of years ago, but I'm unsure whether the installed version supports the 5800X3D. I'd like to confirm the version before swapping CPUs so I don't have to reinstall the old processor just to update the BIOS.
Windows System Information shows: "American Megatrends International, LLC. M.J0, 30.06.2023." The BIOS itself reports "E7B86AMS.MJ0" with a build date of June 30, 2023. However, MSI's support page uses version numbers that don't seem to match these labels. Does "MJ0" correspond to BIOS version 7B86vMJ, and is this version compatible with the 5800X3D?
Answers
Yes, your interpretation is correct: the system is running the MJ0 BIOS version. The version shown after โAmerican Megatrends International, LLC.โ in Windows is the BIOS revision, and the โ.MJ0โ suffix in โE7B86AMS.MJ0โ confirms it.

The MJ0 release is not the version you need for Ryzen 5000 support on this board. Youโll need to update to a newer, non-beta BIOS that specifically lists support for the 5800X3D or Ryzen 5000 processors. Once the update is complete, you can install the new CPU without having to put the old one back in.

You can download the latest BIOS intended for the exact B450-A PRO MAX model and flash it using the boardโs normal BIOS update process. The updater generally checks that the file matches the motherboard, but itโs still important to verify the model and revision yourself before starting. The newest stable release is the safer choice unless you specifically need a beta version.

VelvetCedar42: That makes senseโunfortunate, but thanks for clarifying. I was hoping to avoid flashing the BIOS first.
