How do I properly install RAM in my first PC build?

I'm building my first PC with an ASUS TUF B850-E motherboard, but I'm having trouble installing the RAM. The modules aren't making a clicking sound, and the slot latches aren't closing. I've confirmed that the memory is DDR5. The notch appears to be aligned, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Line up the cutout in the RAM with the matching tab in the slot, then push straight down with even pressure on both ends. The module should sit level with the slot, and the latch should be able to close once it’s fully inserted. Avoid pressing at an angle or forcing it if the notch isn’t perfectly aligned.

Check that the notch on the RAM lines up exactly with the raised section in the motherboard slot. If it doesn’t line up, turn the module around—don’t force it. Once it’s oriented correctly, press it down firmly and evenly until it’s fully seated. Some slots don’t have latches that automatically snap shut, so the important thing is that the RAM is completely inserted and the latch can close properly.

I’m using DDR5, and the notch looks aligned. I’ll check that it’s fully seated and try pressing evenly on both ends.
