How do I stop saved photos from showing the wrong date in my camera roll?

I've noticed that whenever I save a photo from the web, it shows up in my camera roll with a date from 2008, which makes it super annoying to find my recently saved images. Is there a way to disable this feature or change the date of saved photos? I really don't want to keep searching through my entire photo library to find pictures I just saved.

Just to clarify, are you on a Mac or an iPhone? That could change how you manage your photos. It helps to be specific!

If you're using iOS 26, you can change how your photos are sorted in the Photos app. Just tap the three lines next to "Select" and choose to sort by "Recently Added" or "Date Captured." If you'd like to adjust the date on a photo to move it where it belongs, tap on the photo, hit the info icon, and then select "Adjust" to change the date and time.

A simpler way on iOS 26 is to go to the Photos app, tap on Collections at the bottom, then Utilities, and select Recently Saved. You can also pin this collection for quick access! This definitely makes finding your new photos a breeze.
