I just finished building my new gaming PC last month and I'm curious how long it might last. Here's what I've got: - XFX 7900 XTX - 9800x3D - MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk Max Wi-Fi - 32GB Corsair Vengeance RAM - Corsair RM1000X PSU - Samsung 990 Pro 4TB SSD - Thermalight Phantom Spirit 120SE - Fractal Torrent - Full Size Right now, I'm gaming at 1440p on max settings without any issues, and I'm able to crush every game. I'm also open to dropping to 1080p in the future if games demand more power. Do you think I can realistically expect this setup to last me between 7 to 10 years?

It's tough to predict! The lifespan really depends on how game developers decide to push graphics. If they keep making games that are well-optimized with only minor changes, your rig should hold up great. But if they suddenly go crazy with graphics and ray tracing becomes the norm, then you might need an upgrade sooner than hoped.

Your 9800x3D is solid, and itโ€™s likely your GPU will let you play newer titles even if you have to lower settings for better performance in ray tracing-heavy games. As long as youโ€™re okay with dropping to lower resolutions, you should be set for several more years!

I think 7 to 10 years is realistic, especially if you downgrade to 1080p when needed. But if a lot of new games emphasize ray tracing, that could change the game plan. Just know that your 7900 XTX will still perform well for quite a while!

With your 24GB of VRAM, I think youโ€™re in good shape. You could definitely see your system lasting 5 to 7 years, maybe even pushing towards 10. Just keep an eye on game requirements as time goes on!

Iโ€™d say itโ€™s hard to judge how long anything lasts in gaming. Itโ€™s like asking about the stock marketโ€”itโ€™s unpredictable. Just donโ€™t stress over it too much. Youโ€™ll know when itโ€™s time to upgrade if needed.
