How much should I spend on my first PC for 1440p gaming and casual game development?

I'm planning to buy my first PC, mainly for 1440p gaming, Blender, and experimenting with game development in Godot. I expect to play a mix of indie games and demanding titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Final Fantasy VII Remake. Blender and development will be casual rather than professional, so I'm unsure whether I should buy an affordable system now or wait and save for something more capable. What budget would give me good value without overspending?

There isn’t one correct amount without knowing your budget and local prices. For your use case, I’d focus on a balanced midrange system rather than an expensive enthusiast build. A sensible target is roughly the equivalent of $1,000–$1,500 for the tower, depending on the graphics card market. That should be enough for strong 1440p gaming and casual Blender or Godot work. Avoid cutting costs too far on the GPU, power supply, or having only a tiny SSD.

Waiting for a better deal is reasonable, but there’s always going to be newer hardware on the horizon. If you need the PC now, buy when you can get a well-balanced system at a price you consider fair. If you don’t have a firm budget yet, compare complete build prices first and decide whether the performance jump from an entry-level system to a midrange one is worth the extra money for you.
