Hey everyone! I'm in the Netherlands and have over 12 years of experience in cloud and enterprise architecture. I'm gearing up for an L6 Senior Solutions Architect position at AWS, while also keeping Microsoft in mind. I previously went through an AWS interview loop and got some feedback that one question didn't go well and affected my score. This time around, I want to make sure I'm really prepared.
Here's what I'm currently focusing on:
- Crafting around 15-20 solid stories that highlight the Leadership Principles, complete with metrics and trade-offs.
- Diving deep into AWS-centric system design and generic software engineering design principles.
- Reviewing customer scenarios at the Solutions Architect level, including trade-offs and failure stories.
I'm looking for:
- Mock interview partners for leadership principles or system design.
- Suggestions for AI-based preparation tools or platforms that allow for repeated practice sessions.
- Any advice from those who have successfully navigated the AWS L6 SA interviews.
Happy to trade mock interview sessions or even pay for quality prep. Thanks for your help!

Since you've gone through the interview process before, you already have a good sense of what to expect. Remember, your answers don’t always have to center solely on AWS—sometimes a broader perspective can be beneficial. Just be true to your experience. When answering, especially in the STAR format, always end with a measurable outcome—like time or money saved or improvements made across teams. They’re looking for examples where you went above and beyond, not just day-to-day tasks.

Thanks for the insight! I’ll definitely keep that in mind when preparing my answers.
