How to Check SSD Compatibility with ASUS Prime B760M-A AX Motherboard?

I'm in the process of replacing a dead SSD (specifically, an ADATA Legend 800 Gold, 2TB). I'm considering various NVMe 2.0 drives, but I'm not sure about compatibility with my ASUS Prime B760M-A AX motherboard. The original SSD used the NVMe 1.4 protocol, and while some newer options are available, it's unclear from the motherboard documentation whether it supports NVMe 1.3 or NVMe 2.0. Does anyone have insight on how to determine which NVMe versions will work with this motherboard?

The good news is that PCIe is pretty flexible. Even older motherboards can support newer drives with an adapter if the OS supports NVMe. Just keep in mind that older setups may run these drives at reduced speeds due to older PCIe standards.

I actually booted an i5-2500k with a Samsung 950 using an adapter, so it's definitely doable!

Most M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe SSDs you find today should work perfectly fine with that motherboard. I recommend checking out the Patriot P400 V4 or the Crucial P310; they perform well and are fairly priced.
