I recently lost my iPhone 15 Max but thankfully someone returned it to me. The issue is that the display is damaged, and the Face ID feature doesn't work. I activated Lost Mode as soon as I realized it was missing, and I turned it off when I got it back. Now I'm able to enter my passcode, but the phone still requires Face ID to fully disable the Lost Mode. I've heard that if I wait 1-2 hours without moving, the phone won't ask for Face ID again. Is there any truth to that?

Honestly, AI can definitely be hit or miss on this stuff. The thing is, if the Face ID isn't working, you won't be able to deactivate the Lost Mode easily. You can try logging into iCloud to disable Lost Mode from there directly. That worked for me when I had a similar issue, but it seems like it might still ask for Face ID as a security measure. Just keep trying or maybe wait a bit as you've heard, but I wouldn’t count on it working just by standing still.
I had to do it through iCloud too when my Face ID failed. Just make sure you log in with the same Apple ID linked to your device.
