How to Fix a Black Screen Issue with DisplayPort After Changing Resolution

I recently changed my PC's resolution using the NVIDIA Control Panel from 1920x1080 to 1560x1080, and my screen went black. Now, when I try to use DisplayPort, it doesn't show anything at all. I'm currently using HDMI to access the control panel to revert the resolution back, but even after doing that and switching off HDMI, I still only get a black screen when using DisplayPort. What's the best way to troubleshoot this issue and get my DisplayPort working again?

Yeah, I've been in that struggle before too. It could just be that your DisplayPort settings are not being applied properly. Sometimes, the connection needs a little nudge. Have you tried fully powering down your PC and monitor, then turning them back on? That can sometimes reset the connection.

Have you checked if your monitor has any auto-detection features? Mine shows the type of connection it has, and will cycle through connections for about 15 seconds before shutting down. It might also help to do a clean driver install. Look for a version of the driver that worked for you before this issue began. You can find a handy guide on how to use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to assist with this process. Also, try switching to safe mode and see if the basic Microsoft driver helps you test the connections before changing cables.

It sounds really frustrating! I had a similar issue where I turned off the auto-detection feature, but then I could manually switch through the display options without a problem. Have you tried adjusting the resolution settings in the NVIDIA control panel again after reverting? It's odd that it doesn't display anything even when switched to DP. You might need to check your cable connections or try a different DisplayPort cable to rule out any hardware issues.
