How to Standardize iDRAC Alert Configurations for Multiple Servers?

Hey everyone! We've had a bit of a crisis here with our IT operations. During a recent outage, I discovered our iDRAC alert configurations are all over the place. Some are still linked to old engineer emails or outdated SMTP servers, and frankly, it's chaos.

I've started looking into Dell's Ansible modules as a potential fix for this and managed to set things like the SMTP server and email addresses easily. However, I'm struggling with setting up the actual alerts in the iDRAC interface. For example, when I try using the "Quick Alert Configuration" and select every critical category, it says I've only set "54 of 117" alerts, which seems off since I thought I selected all categories.

How do you manage your iDRAC setups to ensure consistency and reliability—especially when it comes to alerting through SMTP? I want all our alerts to be uniform and relevant to our monitoring system. Any advice?

You might want to consider using Dell OpenManage Enterprise. It’s free and can help manage all your iDRAC setups centrally. It’s been a game changer for us! I know it won’t solve everything, but it’s definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already. You can also look into the racadm tool, which can be run over LAN, making it easier to configure multiple servers at once!

Yeah, OpenManage works great. I manage about 10 servers with it, and it's super effective for configuring SNMP traps as well. Plus, if your hardware is under warranty, you can automate support case creation, which is a nice bonus!
