I'm looking to upgrade my old processor since it's becoming obsolete. I currently have an Intel i3 8100 and a B360M DS3H motherboard, but I'm not sure where to start with checking compatibility between components. Can anyone offer some advice on how I should begin this upgrade process?

Your current CPU uses socket 1151, which only supports Intel CPUs through generation 9, so it's pretty outdated. For a real upgrade, you might want to consider switching your motherboard too for more options. A good first step is to research new motherboards that fit your needs!
