How Well Will This PC Handle Gaming and Emulation Without a Dedicated GPU?

I'm currently building this PC and still saving for a dedicated graphics card. In the meantime, I'd like to know what kind of light gaming and emulation performance I can expect using the Ryzen 5 7600X's integrated graphics. The build includes a Ryzen 5 7600X, MSI B650 Gaming Plus WiFi motherboard, 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory, a 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, a 750W power supply, an Arctic Freezer 36 cooler, and a Montech X3 Mesh case. Will it handle older consoles and basic PC games until I add a GPU?

The exact upper limit depends heavily on the emulator and the game. Integrated graphics arenโ€™t automatically useless for 3D emulationโ€”older 3D systems can run surprisingly wellโ€”but performance may vary. A laptop with weaker hardware can still handle GameCube if its graphics drivers and integrated GPU are better suited to it.

MellowPine47: Thatโ€™s mainly what I was trying to figure out. My current laptop can handle GameCube, so Iโ€™m hoping this system can at least match that until I buy a proper graphics card.

The 7600X does have an integrated GPU, but itโ€™s mainly intended for display output rather than serious gaming. Older emulation should be fine, and the CPU itself is more than capable for systems like PlayStation 1, N64, and many PlayStation 2 or GameCube games. More demanding emulators, especially newer consoles, will likely need a dedicated graphics card.

For light PC gaming, you should be okay with games such as Valorant, Minecraft, Counter-Strike 2, and 2D indie titles if you use low settings and modest resolutions. Donโ€™t expect demanding modern games to run well, though. Your RAM setup is helpful because the integrated graphics shares system memory.

The rest of the build is solid, and the 750W power supply should give you plenty of room for a future dedicated GPU. Until then, treat the integrated graphics as a temporary solution: older emulation and lightweight games should be realistic, while newer or graphically demanding games may struggle.
