I'm planning to build a new gaming PC with a Gigabyte Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB, a Ryzen 7 5800XT, and 32GB of DDR4 memory. How well should this combination handle games at 1440p? Any advice on expected performance or possible component changes would be appreciated.

That combination should perform well at 1440p in general. Youโ€™ll probably get the best experience by using High settings instead of maxed-out Epic or Ultra presets, depending on the game. The Ryzen 7 5800XT is fine, but it may not offer much extra gaming performance over a Ryzen 5 5600 or 5600X unless youโ€™re getting it at a very good price. A Ryzen 5 5500X3D could be a stronger gaming-focused option, while moving to AM5 would give you a better upgrade path if your budget allows.

There isnโ€™t one universal 1440p frame-rate estimate because performance varies a lot between games. Look at reviews and benchmarks for the RX 9060 XT 16GB in the games you actually play. Overall, it should be a solid 1440p card, especially with sensible settings and upscaling when needed.

MistyHarbor42: That makes sense. Iโ€™ll check benchmarks for the games I play instead of relying on one average number.

For gaming, Iโ€™d seriously compare the 5800XT with the 5500X3D. The extra 3D cache can help in some games, although the difference may be smaller at 1440p because the graphics card becomes more of a limiting factor. If you need more CPU cores for productivity work, the 5800XT still makes sense.

Be careful with the specific Gigabyte RX 9060 XT model. Some reports suggest the thermal material used on certain Gigabyte 9000-series AMD cards may result in higher temperatures and fan noise. It would be worth checking independent temperature and noise reviews before buying, and comparing it with other RX 9060 XT 16GB models.
