I use Ubuntu with Firefox to apply for jobs on Indeed, but for the past few days the application process has not been working correctly. To check whether Firefox was the problem, I opened the same listing in Chromium, where everything worked normally. I would prefer not to use Chromium or other Google products, so what could be causing the Firefox issue? Is it related to using Firefox ESR, an outdated version, extensions, or compatibility problems with Indeed?

Chromium is separate from Google Chrome, and there are also other Chromium-based browsers available if you need a temporary workaround. Still, the best first fix is to update Firefox and switch from the ESR package to the regular current release. In this case, installing the non-ESR version resolved the issue.
This may be related to Firefox ESR rather than Firefox itself. Some sites have compatibility problems with ESR builds or older versions. Try removing the ESR package and installing the current official Firefox release, then test the application again.
Some websites are developed and tested primarily against Chromium-based browsers, so occasional compatibility issues with Firefox are unfortunately common. Make sure Firefox is fully updated, temporarily test with extensions disabled, and check whether the site works in a fresh profile. If it still fails, the problem may be with Indeed's site rather than your Ubuntu installation.
Indeed generally works in Firefox, so it is worth checking the exact Firefox version and installed add-ons. An ad blocker such as uBlock Origin can occasionally interfere with application forms, although testing in a private window or a clean profile can quickly confirm whether that is the cause.

I had a similar problem with a financial website. It worked in Chromium but not Firefox, which suggested the site was relying on browser-specific behavior instead of following web standards.
