Intermittent Remote Desktop Connection Issues with Signal Bars Appearing

I've got a team member who's having a rough time connecting to our VPN and using Remote Desktop after relocating. They're reporting frequent disconnections—about 15 times a day! They've noticed that their session runs smoothly only when the signal bars on the connection bar aren't visible. I'm trying to understand what this might mean and how it could help identify the root cause of the issue. I believe network latency could be a factor, but I'm unsure about what the connection bar is indicating. Any insights or advice would be appreciated!

When did these connection issues start? Microsoft has recently released an out-of-band patch for some RDP problems. This could impact your user's experience, especially if they've started having trouble around the time of the update.

The issues have been ongoing since November '25. They got a new laptop after moving from a hardwired desktop setup. Do you have a good way of keeping track of these patches? I've struggled with that in the past.

It sounds like they're dealing with packet loss or unstable network issues when using RDP over TCP. That can trigger those connection bars and indicate poor quality.

Is your colleague connecting via WiFi? If so, and if their laptop isn't moving, they might be experiencing interference, especially if they're near an airport. Some routers struggle with radar interference from certain frequencies. That could totally disrupt their connection!

Yeah, they're on WiFi and not moving around. I've suggested they try a wired connection for troubleshooting, but they're hesitant. I think checking proximity to an airport is a solid idea. Thanks!
