Is $300 CAD a good deal for a 5800X, B550, and 32GB RAM?

My friend is selling me his older parts for $300 CAD (about $220 USD). I'm planning to use them for 1440p gaming and some 3D work and photography as a hobby. I'm considering pairing this setup with either a 5070 Ti or a 9070 XT, but I haven't decided yet. If I buy these parts, I know I won't really be able to upgrade later since the only significant upgrade from the 5800X would be its X3D version, which I don't think is worth it given the price in 2025. What do you think? Should I go for it?

Definitely buy it! If it doesn't work out for you, just resell it. It sounds like your friend is either giving you a good deal or is clueless about the value of his parts. Either way, you can't lose here.

Thanks for the tip! He knows the value, he's just not motivated to sell it himself. He even tried to sell me his case, but I have my own plans for that. Do you think I'd be able to sell the parts again later? I'm hoping to get at least two years of good performance from them.
