Is 32GB of RAM enough for gaming with Chrome and Discord open?

I usually play games while keeping Discord and quite a few Chrome tabs open on a second monitor. Would 32GB of RAM be enough for this setup, or should I consider getting 64GB?
Answers
Yes, 32GB should be more than enough for gaming with Discord and a reasonable number of browser tabs open. Many people can do this comfortably with 16GB, while 32GB gives you extra headroom for newer or more demanding games.

It depends somewhat on the game. Most games will be fine, but unusually memory-heavy titles can use a lot of RAM. Even then, 32GB should generally leave enough room for Discord and your browser. If you regularly use virtual machines, video editing software, Blender, or other heavy workloads alongside gaming, 64GB would make more sense.

You should be fine, although the CPU matters too. On a weaker processor, Discord and browser activity can occasionally affect game performance or make switching with Alt-Tab feel slower. For a normal modern gaming PC, 32GB is a solid choice.

Chromeโs memory use mostly depends on how many tabs you have open and what those pages are doing. Video, complex web apps, and lots of active tabs can add up, but normal browsing alongside gaming shouldnโt cause trouble. If the system does run short on memory, closing unused tabs or using tab groups can help.
