Is a $2,350 PC with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RX 9070 XT a good deal?

I'm considering buying a new PC with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB, 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory, and 2TB of storage. The total price is $2,350. Does that seem reasonable, or would I get better value by building it myself? The motherboard, power supply, case, cooler, and exact storage model weren't listed, so I'm also wondering what specific parts I should check before buying.

The parts are powerful, but $2,350 sounds more like a normal prebuilt price than a bargain. Building it yourself could probably save a few hundred dollars and let you choose better supporting components. That said, a prebuilt warranty and having it arrive assembled can justify some extra cost.

Don’t assume building is always dramatically cheaper—there are occasional prebuilt sales that make the difference fairly small. Compare the complete system, including Windows, warranty, cooling, power supply, and storage, rather than comparing only the CPU and graphics card. If the seller uses reputable parts throughout, the price may be acceptable; if the PSU or motherboard is generic, I’d pass or negotiate.

You really need the exact models and confirmation that it’s new before judging the price. The motherboard, power supply, cooler, case, and SSD can make a big difference. Prebuilt systems often save money on those parts, especially the PSU and motherboard, so check those carefully.
