I'm considering putting together a new PC and found a GeForce 3080 for just $300. I typically game at 1080p and looking to upgrade to a new monitor soon. Will the 3080 still perform well for games like Minecraft, Rocket League, and Blender, especially with shaders in Minecraft? Also, I'm looking at a Ryzen 9 5950X bundle that costs around $450, which includes a motherboard and 32GB of RAM. Is spending a total of $750 on this setup a good investment in terms of longevity? How long can I expect this build to last?

I've used various GPUs including the 3080, and it's still excellent. If it were released as new today, the only downside would be power consumption. At 1080p, you will have no issues gaming efficiently, but for 1440p, you might notice it lag with modern titles. For $300, that's a steal if you can make sure it's in good shape!
For $750, it's reasonable but check eBay for similar setups to get a feel for the market. If you're up for a bit more work, consider selling the Ryzen 9 and getting a 5700X3D for a better balance unless you need that production power.
Honestly, the 3080 will work great for 1080p gaming! I use a 3060Ti for 1440p, and I think the 3080 will really shine once you upgrade your monitor. It's a solid choice.
Haha, I use my 3080ti for 4K gaming, but at 1080p, it’s almost overkill! For $300, it’s a fantastic deal and should still deliver great performance at 1440p as well.
That setup sounds pretty good! I've been using my 3080 since launch and have no plans to upgrade anytime soon. Just make sure to check the components in person before buying.
Definitely! A 1000w PSU will handle it easily, especially for 1080p gaming.
Yes, that's more than enough for a 3080. You're all set!
Absolutely, 1000w is solid! You'll have plenty of headroom.
I still use that combo I got back in 2021, and it's holding up beautifully! Not exactly future-proof, but it's certainly good enough to last through the current GPU shortage before considering an upgrade.
The 3080 is a beast! Most people overestimate power requirements for modern games. You can easily run everything on high to ultra settings at 1080p, especially with DLSS. Expect at least 7-10 years of solid performance from this build.

Awesome, thanks! Quick question—do you think a 1000w power supply is enough for this setup?
