I'm considering building a PC with a 7500F CPU and an RTX 3080 GPU. Would a 500W power supply be sufficient for this setup, or is that pushing it too far? Any advice would be appreciated!

Honestly, a 500W supply might work if it's a high-quality one, but you're really playing with fire. Those power spikes from the 3080 can be significant, so I'd aim for something like a 750W PSU for reliability. Better to be safe than sorry!

The 3080 is notorious for causing voltage peaks, so even if you think you can make it work with 500W, itโ€™s just not worth the risk. Consider a PSU like the ASRock Pro 850G; it's budget-friendly and has a solid rating.

Cutting it too close with 500W. If you want to avoid issues, definitely go for at least 750W. I've seen too many systems face problems because of insufficient power.

No way, that's cutting it way too close. The RTX 3080 itself has a TDP of about 320W, so when you factor in the CPU and other components, you're almost maxing that 500W PSU. I really recommend upgrading to at least a 650W unit for peace of mind.

For sure, I wouldn't go lower than 750W, especially given those transient spikes. Trust me, it's just asking for trouble to try and power a 3080 with only 500W. Get a 650W as a minimum, but really push for 750-850W for optimal performance.
