Is a 650W DeepCool ATX 3.1 PSU enough for a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and RTX 3070 Ti?

I'm upgrading a system with an MSI B650M Gaming WiFi motherboard, 16GB of DDR5 memory, and a DeepCool PL650D ATX 3.1 650W power supply. I originally planned to use a Ryzen 5 7500F, but I've now saved enough for a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and an RTX 3070 Ti. Will the 650W PSU handle the upgraded CPU and graphics card reliably at stock settings, or should I replace it with a higher-wattage model?
Answers
The systemโs power draw should technically fit. The RTX 3070 Ti can use roughly 300โ350W, while the 7800X3D is quite efficient and usually draws around 40โ50W in games or about 80โ85W under a heavy all-core load. With the rest of the system included, youโd likely be around 550W at peak, so stock settings should be workable without overclocking.

The bigger concern is the PSU modelโs component quality rather than just its wattage. The PL650D is generally considered a lower-tier unit, so it isnโt ideal for a higher-end gaming build with a 3070 Ti. If possible, choose a reputable 750W ATX 3.x model with a stronger quality rating; something like the ADATA XPG PYLON II 750W would provide better overall confidence if available at a similar price.
MellowKite42: That makes sense. Iโll compare the price of a better-rated 750W unit before deciding whether to keep the 650W model.

Iโd lean toward a quality 750W, 850W, or even 1000W unit if the price difference is small. It gives you more headroom for transient GPU spikes and future upgrades, although 650W can probably manage this specific setup if everything stays at stock settings.
MellowKite42: Money is tight, so Iโd prefer not to upgrade unless itโs necessary. Do you think the 650W unit is safe for now with no overclocking?

MellowKite42: Would it still be safer to replace the PSU with a better one, even if the wattage is technically enough?
