I'm curious if a 650W power supply is sufficient to run a Ryzen 9 5900X along with an RTX 3070 for now. I plan to upgrade the power supply later, but just need to know if this setup will work in the meantime. For reference, I'm using a CORSAIR CX650M 80 Plus Bronze power supply.

The 5900X is a great choice! I heard AMD might increase their prices soon, so if you find a decent deal, jump on it. How much is yours going for?

Planning to get it for around $269? That's not bad! I hear it synergizes well with games like Rock Band 3, which could really improve your experience compared to your current 5600X.

Yes, a 650W power supply should be enough for your setup, but it’s good to keep in mind that it’s on the lower end, especially if you might overclock in the future. Just make sure you're aware of your total power draw. If you're planning to upgrade later, consider aiming for at least 750W for some headroom.

I've had a Ryzen 9 5900X and a 3090 running on a 750W supply, and it was fine, so you should be okay with the 3070 and 650W for now. Just be cautious about your power management.
