I'm planning to build a gaming PC costing around $3,000 and want a motherboard that will remain reliable if I upgrade the CPU or GPU later. I've been considering a B850 motherboard from MSI or ASUS ROG Strix and would like to know whether it offers worthwhile long-term support and features. I'm also unsure how trustworthy the build guide I watched is, so advice on choosing compatible parts would be helpful. I'm buying from Iran, where prices can change rapidly because of severe inflation, so I'd prefer to make a sensible purchase that won't need replacing soon.

You probably don’t need to spend extra for an enthusiast-branded motherboard. A good B650 or B650E model can offer essentially the same gaming performance, and the GPU performance difference is negligible in practice. Compare the exact features, warranty, local price, Wi-Fi, M.2 slots, USB ports, and BIOS support rather than choosing based only on the ROG branding.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with the B850 model you’re considering. It should be suitable for a long-term AM5 build if it includes the connections and expansion slots you expect to use. Just remember that a more expensive board won’t make the CPU or GPU faster; spend the difference on components that directly improve performance unless you specifically need its extra features.
That makes sense. Since I’m in Iran and hardware prices can change overnight, I’m mainly trying to avoid buying something that will limit future upgrades or force me to replace the board soon.
