I recently bought a Sapphire RX 9070 GRE and currently use it with an Intel Core i5-14400F on a B760 DS3H motherboard. I mainly play games at 1440p and have no strict budget limit. My current CPU does not seem to be causing a bottleneck, but I'm wondering whether there is a worthwhile upgrade that would provide a noticeable gaming performance increase and remain well matched with the GPU. Would an upgrade to something like an i5-14600K, i7-14700K, or a newer Ryzen X3D platform make sense, or would it be better to keep my current system?

Your current system is already reasonably balanced. A CPU upgrade only becomes more compelling if you play games such as simulation, strategy, or other CPU-intensive titles, or if you are targeting very high refresh rates. Otherwise, save the money and upgrade later when the 14400F begins limiting performance in the games you actually play.
For 1440p gaming at high or ultra settings, your graphics card will usually be the limiting component before the i5-14400F. Since you already know the CPU is not bottlenecking the GPU, upgrading probably will not produce a noticeable difference in most games. I would keep the current processor unless you play particularly CPU-heavy titles or need better productivity performance.
An i5-14600K or i7-14700K could improve CPU performance, but the gaming gain is generally modest—roughly around 8–10% depending on the game and settings. The 14600K is close to the 13600K in real-world performance, so choosing whichever is cheaper could make sense. Make sure your motherboard BIOS supports the processor and that your cooler and power delivery are adequate, especially for the i7-14700K.
In most GPU-limited 1440p games, it would be difficult to notice. The improvement is more likely to matter in CPU-heavy games, high-refresh-rate gaming, or situations where you want better minimum FPS.
Moving to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D or 9800X3D would be a stronger gaming-platform upgrade, but it would require a new motherboard and possibly new memory if your current system uses DDR4. That would be a much larger expense for relatively little benefit with your current 1440p setup, so a full platform change is hard to justify unless you also want a longer-term upgrade path or play heavily CPU-bound games.
Would the extra FPS actually be noticeable enough to justify spending the money, or would it mostly show up in benchmarks?
