I'm considering upgrading from an RTX 3070 Ti because its 8 GB of VRAM is becoming a limitation. Newer GPUs and reasonably priced used cards have been difficult to find, so I'm currently comparing two options: an RTX 3080 Ti for about €450 located roughly 10 km away, possibly negotiable, or an RX 7900 XT for around €500 that's 100–200 km away. I'd mainly like the better long-term choice for 1440p and possibly 4K gaming. Is the 7900 XT worth the extra travel and €50, or would the 3080 Ti still make more sense?

The RX 7900 XT is the clear winner between these two. It’s considerably faster than the RTX 3080 Ti and has 20 GB of VRAM instead of 12 GB, which gives it much more breathing room for modern games at 1440p and 4K. For only €50 more, I’d strongly favor the 7900 XT if the card is in good condition.
The 3080 Ti is still a capable card, especially if you need NVIDIA features such as CUDA, better ray-tracing support, or DLSS. However, at €450 it doesn’t look particularly attractive next to a €500 7900 XT. The 3080 Ti also uses more power and its 12 GB of VRAM may become restrictive sooner.
It may also be worth checking whether a newer AMD card is available near the 7900 XT’s price. Some newer models can offer similar or better performance, but make sure you’re not giving up too much VRAM just to get a newer generation. Between the two listed deals, the 7900 XT offers the better performance-to-price ratio.
That was my concern with some of the newer options too: a newer GPU isn’t automatically a better upgrade if it only has 12 GB of VRAM. The 7900 XT seems like the safer choice for longevity.
