I'm considering building a gaming PC with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and a Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB GDDR6. My total budget is around 2,500 AUD, and I may upgrade to an RTX 5080 later. Does this combination make sense, or would I be better off choosing a less expensive CPU and putting more of the budget toward a stronger graphics card now?

Yes, it’s a perfectly good gaming combination, especially if you already have the 7800X3D or want a strong CPU platform. The main limitation for higher settings and resolutions will usually be the graphics card, not the processor.
With a 2,500 AUD budget, I’d consider dropping to a Ryzen 5 7500X3D or 7600X3D and using the savings on a stronger GPU, such as an RX 9070. That would generally give you more graphics headroom right away while still providing excellent gaming performance.

I’m also thinking about upgrading to an RTX 5080 later, so I was leaning toward keeping the stronger CPU now.
